I get the basics: it's there to help account for how loading above nameplate can affect transformer life, especially under varying ambient temps and loading profiles. But I'm trying to wrap my head around how people are actually applying this in the field, especially when running borderline continuous overloads in industrial environments.
We've got a couple of older oil immersed units that get pushed close to 130% on peak days, and we've used the thermal factor for planning and justification, but I'm always a bit wary about the long term insulation health, does anyone here have a practical way to validate those factors with real world temperatures and loading data?
