I'm working on a project where I need to evaluate received power in a wireless transmission system, specifically over a mid range distance (around 20–30 meters) in a semi obstructed indoor environment. I've got the TX power, antenna gains, and general layout, but real world readings are coming in lower than expected. I'm wondering if I'm underestimating multipath losses or maybe not accounting correctly for material attenuation. I used the Friis equation for a rough baseline, but clearly, I need something more dynamic. Anyone here have experience with modeling or measuring received power under these conditions? tools, tricks, or even cautionary tales welcome, I'm trying to dial this in without throwing more power at the problem.
