Earth ground meter vs multimeter which is better for measuring ground?

I'm trying to get a handle on the best way to measure earth ground for my projects. I know that multimeters can give you some basic resistance readings, but I've also come across these specialized earth ground meters that sound pretty interesting.

Has anyone here had a chance to use both? I'd love to hear how they stack up in terms of accuracy and how easy they are to use. Do you think it's worth ponying up for a dedicated earth ground meter instead of just sticking with a trusty multimeter?

An actual earth ground meter is worth it. Multimeters just aren't built for true soil resistance tests. Clamp-on ground testers make life way easier for you, especially when you're in the field.

Yeah, I've used both, multimeter will give you a rough idea, but it's not really reliable for true ground testing. A dedicated earth ground meter is way more accurate and designed for the job and especially useful if you're dealing with code compliance or critical installs, upgrade if you can

I've used both and I can tell you that for any serious project, a proper ground meter is what you're want. A multimeter will struggle with smaller resistance so it might be fine just for the sake of trying, but I wouldn't rely on those measurements.
